We have an 8 month yellow lab - talk about energy! We have found that he jumps more when he's bored - so make sure that your dog is getting enough attention and exercise. Also - teach him to sit-stay .. if he is doing this, he can't jump. Another thing we've done is to put him in another room or in his crate until he calms down. He learns quickly that if he wants to be where all of the "action" is - he'll be calm and keep those furry feet on the floor.

Natural herbal doggie downer. Maybe put the dog in another room or someplace eles when company comes.

Step on his back feet/toes when he raises up. You only have to step firmly on them the first time. After that just place your foot lightly on his and command him "DOWN". He'll change his behavior.
Sounds like he is bored take him for walks twice a day or at least once the will tire him out and settle his excitement for some fun you can also buy toys that you can put food treats in that will take them ages to figure out and intrests them.
You could certainly give it some Ridalin! But, uh, don't do that. seriously. Anyway, some dogs just prefer to be eccentric like that, and there's not much you can do besides try to train it not to be. One of my old dogs used to be like that, my black lab, but he could actually knock people down!
if your dog is hyper he will jump and if he/she dues that you push your dog of and say " bad dog" and ignore your dog for a little bit.
