what can i put around my garden to deter dogs from using it as a toilet?

Answers:
For a start, don't use anything containing aniseed or you'll find the problem worsens, since dogs love aniseed. Anything with ammonia in or bleach will deter dogs from doing their business on your garden, only on patios etc of course, as you'll kill plants if you stick that down on soil. Another good one is pepper. Sprinkle loads of it all over. When the dogs come sniffing round, the pepper gets up their sensitive noses and makes them sneeze and splutter. It won't do them any harm, it'll just send them packing.
a bigger dog!

or a cat with real attitude.
A fence!
a lion
Install some crocodiles in your water feature. That should do the trick!
airifles should do the trick
I've heard cayenne pepper does the trick, but you can go to Petsmart or some other store like that and get a dog repellent.
a nice bit of steak.WITH RAT POISON!!.Sorry but I'm sick of it too, dog owners who don't pick up s**t!!
A fence
a fence
Berberis Thunbergii.
Try one of these. I like the water sprayer but it's pricey.

Empty Lemonade Bottles.
Put a lawn sprinkler in place and turn it on when you see a dog trying to come into the garden. You will soon find that dogs, which are creatures of habit will give up.
barbed wire, an electricuting fence :D, 3 lions, 2 alligators and.. a hippo =D
The ideal way to deter dogs from doing toilet is by spraying the area with anything having a strong odour like a disinfectant or a insect repellent or a cheap deodorant or room spray or pepper spray (scattering the area with pepper powder will also do the trick). Spray the area and especially spots normally being used regularly. U will see the dogs avoiding your garden.
I have seen this problem solved by placing clear plastic bottles filled with water in and around the area, hope it works for you
Red pepper works wonders. They get a snoot full of it when they are checking out the spot and never return.
You can get a 'scarecrow'sprinkler..I'm sure the brands where you live would be different, but you can find several motion detector sprinklers on line and on eBay.they should be at your garden centers or hardware stores..
Anyway, it is a sprinkler that shoots water for 3-5 seconds each time something moves on your lawn..They work very well.
Also, a running fountain or ground level bird bath will keep them from soiling, as they don't like to contaminate fresh water..
I have heard that blck pepper sprinkled around you borders works to keep dogs out, as if hurts their nose when they sniff it..
Hi Barbra
you can half fill bottles with water and that will stop them, its something to do with the reflection
Land mines and Barbed wire should do it.
Nothing will definitely put other peoples uncontrolled dogs off from using your garden unless you put up a proper physical barrier. Sorry.
Take an old lemonade bottle pull the wrapper off and fill it with water, screw the lid back on and place on the grass. The sun refects off the water and stops animals entering the garden, they don't seem to like the glare it gives off. I lived abroad and loads of people used to do it. It really works :o)
if you sprinkle lots of pepper around the outside of your garden that should definitely help, as it will make the dogs sneeze, just make sure you put plenty on. If not i would suggest to try the water in the bottle thing, I hope this helps. You could always try putting a sign up telling dog owners to keep off the grass?!
