What can I give My 10 year old English Bulldog for her artherities?

Answers:
I really recommend Glucosamine either in tablet form or in food.. also rimadyl that you can get from the vet - have her liver and kidney functions tested every 6 months while on the medication though.
over the counter you can get what is "Ascriptin" -- most places like wal-mart carry it in the pain reliever isle in a white bottle., You should be able to give her a whole one once a day up to twice a day - you can tell on colder days etc when it is worse on her you can bump it up to twice a day. This is perfectly safe. Do NOT use baby aspirin or ibprofen anything like that - or CELEBREX - geesh, don't get me started on people. lol Good luck - I miss my bully, he died a year ago.
celebrex. if its good enough for human consumption and they test most medicines on animals, Why not?
Rimadyl and Eukanuba Senior Plus dog food will help.
I assume this wa meant to say "arthritis"?

You can give dogs aspirin. one every couple of days. I would recommend that you talk to a vet first, but my parent's have an arthritic dog and the aspirin really helps. REMEMBER, though, that dogs/cats metabolize drugs at a very different rate than humans! my parent's dog is a large German Shepard and they give her 1 pill every couple days. Perhaps a half or a quarter?
You should notice him/her moving better after one dose.
large breed dog food contains glusomine and chronitin.
the pet stores sell supplements for this also-glusomine %26 chronitin. helps to lubricate the muscles and joints for better
flexability. exercise him. keep him from being over weight, the
less weight on the joints the better for him.
I have a 9 year old German Shepherd, and she is on a senior dog food, as well as MSM (which can be found at most tack shops or pet stores) and a Glucosomine/Chondrin pill (used by humans, which you can find in the vitamin section.) Also, if you want to reduce inflamation, asprin works too. No Ibuprophen or advil for dogs!
My vet recommended nupro joint. It has help immensely our lab is back hunting and he coat is gorgeous. the added benefit is that she sheds very little since we started her on the nupro.
First of all, DON'T OVER EXERCISE YOUR DOG!! Of course your dog needs to keep a good muscular shape to hold her heavy body, but don't do too much. Don't let your dog get too excited because when dogs do they jump and run and every heavy step is a chock for the joins (even tho bulldogs are mostly Sllllooooowwww--aaaaannnnnddd-.

Many "natural" products are really effective. Glusomine, chondroitin are some of the most known. Give your dog tomatoes and blueberries as much as you can. Those fruits are full of anti-oxydants that help the cells "regenerate" and it slows the aging effects in every way for you And your dog.

Otherwise, aske your vet about Tolfedine. It is mostly given to females that have to deal with intense pain (especially because of hip and elblow dysplagia) for a couple of days only. Don't get any if your dog has digestive problems (that is often the case with english bulldogs). If you do, make sure that your dog is hydrated enough and you could see some diarrhea until the medication is over.

Whatever you do, tell us what you do and what happened!!

Good luck!
Glucosamine condroitin works well. Ask your vet what you should give her and how much.
Contact your vet and ask him about glucosomine with controtin.
Goes by the weight of the dog. DO NOT GIVE HIM HUMAN MEDS AS IT COULD KILL HIM.
My rotty was on duramax. works like celebrax, only for dogs. my vet also recommended getting the sam's club glucosimine/chondrotin..i think it's by "member mark" ?
