what do i feed my gsd x?

My 1yrold gsd x has the runs have been to vets but am unhappy with decision.
Can you suggest what i can feed him on?
Answers:
Normally, with hold food for one day and then make him a mixture of ground beef ( with the fat drained off) and white rice or turkey and rice. Feed this in small amount every few hours and if he seems to be doing ok increase the amount of food and decrease the number of feedings. If he seems to be doing ok slowly start to work back to his normal food. Do not give him his normal food right away this will cause him to get diarrhea again. Also if you have not already bring in a poop sample to your vet so they can check for internal parasites which may also cause diarrhea.
If you think your vet's advice is not right for your dog, I'd suggest going to another vet for a second opinion. I assume by gsd x you mean a German Shepherd mix?
cooked chicken and rice - vets recommend it. Very bland but nutritious. May need to keep him on it a few days, but will sort his tummy out
cooked chicken, veg %26 biscs, %26 1 hard boiled egg every other day until he starts to bind then stop the eggs.
lightish foods like chicken and rice and scrambled eggs to help him bind remember to keep lots of fresh water out for him coz he will be dehydrated too
Feed our bunch-- four of'em-- Dr Johns silver which is a dry complete food but we soak it overnight, at 1 year old it needs to be on the Dr John's Gold.
so what's the diagnosis? Try a Lamb %26 Rice or Turkey DRY dog food. it's easier on the digestive tract.
Hi, it's a bit difficult to answer as you don't include what your vet said in your question, GSD's are notorious for suffering with tummy probs so could be anything really, if it is food related then I agree with some of the other answers here, cicken + rice is good for calming an upset tummy down, white fish (poached or boiled, look out for bones!) + rice is another good one scrambled eggs but not too often again with rice, don't feed liver as this can have a laxative effect.
I think it might be a good idea to see another vet also for a second opinion.
a more solid meat ie chappie or just dry food when mine gets like it i starve for a day then give them food again thats just how i do it ,y vets said boiled rice an chiken and vry bland food
Do not give him any milk or milky foods that is the cause
Hi, If this is an on-going problem, may I suggest pro-biotics as a supplement?. I took on a 3 year old GSD with severe stomach problems, and put her on pro-biotics when all else seemed to have failed. 2 years on, she is fit and healthy with no further problems. In the short term, plain boiled rice and scrambled eggs is great for calming the stomach, but is generally only temporary.
try feeding him on dried food for a while that's what i feed my dog on and i let her have some tinned food once to twice a month as a treat it also helps make their breath a bit more pleasant.
