Answers:
Put some peroxide on the wound and put a bandage on it so the dog doesn't keep licking it.
get neosporin and fill the puncture hole with it till it is bulging. thats what vets do do not cover it, my vet didn't says it needs to breathe
put a compress on it. Some neosporin(make sure he doesnt lick it). get him to the vet though unless you know the dog/animal that bit him.Rabies! My moms dog was attacked by a raccoon that ended up having rabies.!Be careful!
How did he get the puncture wound? Try to keep it clean and its ok that he licks it, he may heal it himself. Try calling an emergency vet in your area and ask for advice.
The good news is it has stopped bleeding. Him licking it will do no harm - it's what they are supposed to do, his saliva will kill germs, just make sure he doesn't open the wound back up. If he is acting normal then don't worry too much, terriers are hardy little creatures! Offer him a biscuit, if he's interested in food then he's not in too much distress.and you can relax a little.
Go to the pet shop and see if they have any of those "dog cones" for sale; If not, go to a store that sells heavy weight cardboard like paper that you can make a cone out of; after that's done, peroxide, soap, water and wrap..good luck but get him to the vet asap.also, hope he's had his shots, if not, he may be quarantined!
Let the dog lick it because the dogs tongue will clean the wound. Just leave out some fresh water and food. If it starts bleeding again get a wet rag and dab it. Im sure your dog will be fine until tomorrow. Good luck
clean wound out good with peroxide then fill puncture wound with
antibiotic (neosporen). trim hair away from wound, the hairs can
infect wound, you'll appreciate doing this later when it scabs over.
