what do i do if my dog swallowed alkaseltzer non drowsy cold medicine?

Answers:
OK this is VERY IMPORTANT! I am a veterinarian. If one of the ingredients is aspirin your dog will be fine. If it is Acetaminophen your dog is in SERIOUS risk of kidney failure and must be seen by a vet immediately. If it was only one the risk is less but still there. It is like a dog taking Tylenol. They can die from Tylenol but not from aspirin. Please check that now

Follow up to the Hydrogen Peroxide comment above:

That is a good idea if Acetaminophen is the pain ingredient but you still need to see a vet! not necessary if it is aspirin.
If your worried give him a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. It'll make him puke up every thing he ate.
I would call a 24 emergency vet immediately and read them the ingredients in the alka seltzer and see what they say what to do.
1: Call the vet.
2: Call the Poison Control Center or the 800# on the back of the medicine
3: Monitor the dog to make sure that he/she is ok.no convulsions, swallowing of the tongue.etc.
4: Put the medicines elsewhere so that no pet can ever get to them again.
Give him plenty to drink. Outside of that it wont cause any problems for the dog, so dont panic, it's not a serious issue.
If i were you, I would take my dog to the vet immediatley.
