My two dogs just got in a fight. The smaller dog got a wound on the top of his head. It is not bleeding but it is a tear in the skin. Is there anything that I can put on it? The dogs have been put in seperate rooms until they can cool down.

if the dog isn't bleeding, it will be fine. Leave it be as is. The dog will heal just like humans heal. probably faster than humans heal. Now, find out what the reason for the fight was. Toys? Pick them up when you don't want them playing with them or when they aren't paid attention to. Food? Seperate bowls at seperate parts of a room or two different cages/crates. Alpha role? STOP this NOW. place leashes on both of them and let them drag them around. If they start fighting again, yank the hell out of the leashes while yelling NO. THis will help reiterate the fact that you are supposed to be the pack leader and the leader decided when and where fight can happen if ever. Aggression? This comes back to teh food, bed, alpha role, toys questions. After they cool down, bring them back to get her with leashes on. If EITHER starts looking aggressive, yank BOTH leashes not just one. Correct both of them not just one. Many owners correct only one dog and this can actually lead to even more aggression (kinda like choosing favorites).
I would keep the area clean and apply some antibiotic ointment. If the wound looks bad enough you may need to take it to the vet for sutures
You can wash it out with peroxide and then put some neosporin on it. Watch it the next few days for signs of infection. It will probably be okay.
Go to a vet to check it out. Most likely, they'll just do nothing about it since it's not bleeding, or they could give a cream. Wait it out to save the money of the vet bill, but if it gets worse, or doesn't go away, then see a vet.
If it is not bleeding, I wouldn't be to worried about it. Clean the area with some hydrogen peroxide, and keep an eye on it.
Check the dogs completely! There could be a puncture wound in the arm pit area, or other area that you may not see initially, but that can get badly infected.

Wow I guess alot of people here have the human breed of dogs. I wonder if they eat their dogs food or biscuits??
Please without YOUR vets approval, do not use any type of human medication on your dog. If there is no blood, it might not be that bad, however no one here can see the dogs wounds. I would call the vet and ask what they think and take it from there. I hope it all works out for you and your dogs, KG
Neosporin, skin glue (go to the pharamcy) or you can try to bandage it, but, dogs are good at removing those. You may want to go get some stitches, and help prevent the hassle and infection that can happen if your not very vigulant.
If it happened once, it can ahppen again.

Apply a little rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to the area. Keep it clean. Dogs rate of healing of small wounds is much faster than it is for humans.
Smart to separate these two for a spell.
ok. OH MY GOD! do NOT--- do not put skin glue, neosporin, alsohol or anything on it. if it is not bleeding and is a tear bigger than the length of your fingernail, it needs to be flushed and sutured by the VET! it also needs to be treated with internal antibiotics. dogs develop abcesses under the skin because they have a different epidermis than we do. they will form a pocket of infection under that wound if it closes on its own and it will burst. don't be ignorant: take your dog to the vet. then consult a behaviorist or trainer to stop the fighting problem. this happened to a dear friend of mine and it cost her $700 to stitch up the dogs. one lost an eyeball. speaking from experience.
