what can I use for fleas on a 1 week old puppy?

Answers:
A MIXTURE OF JOHNSON'S BABY OIL, GREEN ALCOHOL AND WATER. PUT IT IN A SPRAY BOTTLE AND SPRAY YOUR PUPPY 3 TO 4 TIMES PER DAY. YOU WILL DEFINITELY SEE A HAPPIER PUP AND HIS HAIR WILL HAVE A BEAUTIFUL AND HEALTHY SHEEN. BE CAREFUL TO NOT GET INTO THE EYES. BUT SPRAY OVER THE ENTIRE BODY. GUARANTEED. THE OWNER OF A FEED STORE RECOMMENDED THIS AND BELIEVE ME IT WORKS. I THINK THE GREEN ALCOHOL (DON'T USE A LOT) SOOTHES THE FLEA BITES. BELIEVE ME YOUR PUPPY WILL LOVE YOU!!
theres not much u can do its too young maybe give it just a bath
A very gentle bath--that's it. You can treat the mother though. I know frontline is safe for nursing dogs.
The best thing to do is run your sink with warm water, and seriously dilute the over the counter flea soap. Put in just enough to get some "bubble bath" results. Let him soak, supported, for about 5 minutes while you gently rub his fur. This is what my Vet has had me do with the bottle-kittens I foster. Using Dawn or other detergents can irritate his skin. You can't use Advantage or anything like that until the age is correct because the stuff soaks into the skin and has long term effects.
Go to your local pet store and pick up a bottle of Bio Groom Flea shampoo. Dilute it by 50%. Leave it on the pup for about 5 minutes. During this time, come through the coat with a flea comb, picking off as many fleas as you can. You can do this every other day untill he/she is old enough for Frontline or Advantage. I recommed Advantage when the dog already has fleas. It has a faster kill rate on the fleas. Use Frontline to maintaine a flea free animal. The Bio Groom Flea Shampoo, diluted, will not harm the little one. DO NOT use any Hartz products. You will kill the dog! Also, if your still hesitant about using a flea shampoo so early, use Dawn dish detergent. Believe it or not, it will kill the fleas after about 10 minutes, and is perfectly safe to use on such a young dog. Again, use a flea comb while the dog is soaking in it to pull them out. You can use it everyday if need be. Dry the pup off really well with a towel, and use a blow dryer to get it dryer faster to avoid an upper respitory infection. Good luck to you
none, just wipe it and take off that thing with your hands.
I would avoid all pesticides on a pup this young. Also a bath is risky because the pup can get cold or easily swallow water and get pneumonia. I would use a flea comb to comb all the fleas off and then drown them in acetone. You can get a flea comb at the pet store, it's a very fine tooth comb that will get the fleas off.
tea tree oil.do not use any commercial flea products on puppies under 6-8 weeks old.
my puppy had fleas and i just gave her a bath and i havent seen like any fleas on her .by the way baby shampoo works really good ( it smells good 2)
Soap suds kill fleas. It just does not last long.
a gental baby soap will kill the adult fleas, but not the eggs, pesticides can be posionous to puppies that young. Also dont treat a nursing mother she can pass the pestacides to the puppies in her milk. The best thing is to use is baby soap baths, , and wash any bedding and Vaccum every THREE days to try and stop the life cycle of the bugs. Also use a flea comb on the puppies several times a day. (put any fleas or eggs on the comb immedently in soapy water) Also baby powder in the carpets, couches and ect. will help smother the bugs without the pesticides. Try feeding the mother dog garlic, It is a safe and nautral bug repelant. other wise once the puppies are older get flea meds from a vet.
Don't give a week old puppy a flea bath! I have heard that you can use Avon Skin-So-Soft for fleas. I have done it as a preventative thing when I have my dog outside. but for now if you see a stray flea here and there just pick it off and flush it. Don't give that puppy a bath though! When it gets a little older you can bath him in dawn dish washing liquid. in a warm room get him a little wet. lather him really well with the dawn leave on for 1-2 minutes while keeping him warm of course, then rinse away.
Do NOT use any kind of flea treatment on a puppy this young. Also do NOT give it a bath. Chilling at this age can be fatal. The only safe thing to do is to treat the mother using Frontline Plus, use a flea comb on the puppy, keep the puppy bed super clean, changing it 2 - 3 times a day and making sure you wash the bedding in very hot water %26 dry in a dry. Vacumn the puppy box and surrounding area.
there is this organic stuff made by Buck Mountain called parasite dust for animals u can put it on anything and it is safe cuz it's all natural I've used it on day old kittens and it works.
You can't do anything but bathe with a mild soap and water, and then don't get it near his head. make sure they stay warm! Frontline, advantage, etc's label use is 8 weeks I believe. One of them is 7 weeks, but I can never remember which one. Bathe the mother as well.
I would call your vet and ask them for some safe treatments. No pesticides on puppies though!

And please please please never use any Hartz products on your pets, even when they are old enough!

Just get some Frontline from your vet and put it on the mother dog.It will kill the fleas on the puppy as well without harming it.Hurry, fleas can kill such a young puppy;they cause anemia.
