what does it mean when a dog is "neurotic"?

Answers:
Usually, an animal or person who is neurotic is emotionally unstable. In animals, neurosis results in repetitive actions that don't always fit the situation (i.e., spinning in place, barking at nothing, licking, chewing, etc.). Neurotic behavior in dogs can be due to neurological problems but, more often they are the result of boredom, lack of structured activity, too much energy and nowhere to use it, an owner who thinks the dog's behavior is cute, and intentionally or unintentionally condones the behavior (ie. tail chasing) or who fails to provide stability and discipline as the dog's pack leader.
That it's owner is crazy!
A SELF CENTERED DOG?
That it's owner is crazy and it is a female selfcentered dog.
The dog has an obsession with something and will repeat a reaction to an object over and over. Something is unbalance with the dog.
Lack of exercise, boredom and isolation can bring on a neurotic behavior in any dog.

Sometimes neurotic behavior can be seen as:
Ball, car, tail or even shadow chasing
Licking paws, floors
Pacing back and forth
Barking
Digging. etc.
Neurotic is a psychological term for a human mental condition. Generally when referring to a dog it means "crazy", and implies noisiness, and hyperactivity.
